Roseville Junior Golf Academy
This academy focuses on what actually matters in a golf swing — the correct movement of the golf club — rather than forcing kids into rigid body positions that don't hold up under pressure or as they grow. Players learn to understand what the club needs to do to strike the ball solidly and send it where they're aiming, building real skill instead of memorized checkpoints that fall apart on the course.
The one fundamental every student will master: hit the ball before the ground. It sounds simple, but it's the single most important skill in golf — the difference between clean, confident contact and the frustration that keeps most beginners from ever falling in love with the game. Everything we teach builds toward this.
Beyond the swing, junior golfers will learn the rules of the game, proper etiquette, and how to actually play — not just hit balls on a range. Our goal is to develop confident, capable players who understand why their swing works, know how to conduct themselves on the course, and are ready to compete and enjoy the game for years to come.
Academy Classes
At the heart of every class is one simple, non-negotiable skill: hitting the ball before the ground. It's the foundation that everything else in golf is built on. A player who consistently strikes the ball first will hit it solid, control their distance, and see the ball go where they're aiming — while a player who hits the ground first will struggle no matter how good their setup or swing looks. We keep our classes focused on this fundamental because it's the fastest path to real improvement and real enjoyment of the game. Once a young golfer can reliably hit the ball first, everything else — distance, accuracy, consistency — starts to come naturally.
Golf is more than just swinging a club — it's a game with its own rules, traditions, and unwritten code of conduct, and we make sure every junior golfer learns it the right way. Students are introduced to the basic rules of play, how to keep score, and how to navigate the course from tee to green. Just as important, they learn proper etiquette: respecting other players, staying quiet and still while someone is hitting, repairing divots and ball marks, raking bunkers, and keeping up a good pace of play. We also cover course safety and awareness, honesty and integrity, and basic course management — thinking through a shot instead of just swinging away.
